Kalawati Hospital has a dedicated OPD for fertility and reproductive endocrinology supported by a ultra modern A.R.T centre with facilities for advanced laparoscopic surgery, IUI, IVF(test-tube baby), ICSI and surgeries like MESA and TESA for male infertility.

Our doctors combine experience and expertise to bring the latest treatment options at affordable costs. Treatment protocols are individualised and planned according to the medical as well as practical problems of the couple. We maintain patient confidentiality and transparency at all cost.

Our A.R.T centre follows an individualised treatment plan to ensure the highest success rates to a couple at the least possible expense. Each couple is unique and needs a tailor-made approach to their problem.

IUI – or intra-uterine insemination is a procedure ideal for couples suffering from minor male factor infertility, premature or retrograde ejaculation. We have a separate procedure room for IUI with in-dependent facilities for semen processing and instillation.

IVF (in-vitro fertilsation) or test-tube baby is the fertilisation of the female’s ovum with the male sperm outside the body. It is the treatment of choice for women with bilateral tubal block, endome-triosis, chronic an ovulation and unexplained infertility not responding to any treatment. Our IVF lab has a dedicated air-handling unit, latest equipment with facilities for cryopreservation (freezing) of embryos and a micro-manipulator for advanced interventions like ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection).

FAQ’s

Why am I having difficulty conceiving?

Around 10-12% of all couples have difficulty conceiving. The causes vary and can be simply owing to stress and not staying together at the right time or some major illness. On an average 10-15% of all subfertile couples suffer from a problem in the male partner, 20-25% suffer from a problem in the female partner and in 30% cases the reason is unexplained.

When should we consider visiting a doctor?

If you have not conceived even once after staying together continuously for twelve months you should consult a doctor. If the female partner suffers from any menstrual irregularities or any white discharge and if the male partner suffers from any sexual complaints like premature or retrograde ejacualtion, you can consult a doctor earlier.

What is timed intercourse?

A woman ovulates once during her monthly period. Ovulation occurs during mid-cycle. Hence in a regular cycle of 28 to 30 days the chances of conception are highest for ten days after one begins menstruating for upto 10 days.

What is IVF?

IVF or test-tube baby as it is more commonly known means the fertilisation of the egg of the woman with the sperm from the husband outside the body, in the lab. It is done in women who cannot conceive naturally due to problems such as tubal blockage or poor egg formation. It is a process by which the eggs(or ova) of the woman are first formed using injections and then collected using a needle and fertilised in an incubator in the embryology lab. Once the embryo is formed, it is allowed to grow for 24 to 48 hours before transferring it into the body of the woman. This ensures that all the factors leading to inability to fertilise are taken care of.
